I'm still confused. Do I HAVE to buy insurance or do I just state whether or not the item is insured? Can I still charge extra as in the shipping/handling as long as I say it's for insurance? So it's up to me to decide whether or not something needs to be insured? How will this effect buying insurance from auctiva? I no longer would get extra money out of it?
I've been sent a trasaction Case ID 8239317423, this is suppose to be a Vehicle Purchase Protection program. Is there some way for me to verify that it is legit, and not a scam? Thanks!
I have been selling on Ebay for a year, but have never sold anything that cost thousands of dollars. I recently listed an expensive dining set and couch (over $5000). I have offers but I am nervous because I will need to ship the items, and once they leave my home I am afraid the buyer somehow can scam me out of my furniture or payment.
Can someone tell me if I am protected as the seller? How do I know that after I ship the furniture, the buyer will not cancel their payment? What if the buyer says the item is not as described, and it really is? They will have my furniture. I really want to know what I can do to PROTECT MYSELF AS THE SELLER BEFORE SHIPPING MY FURNITURE. Does PayPal release me the buyers payment immediately, or do they wait until the buyer receives the furniture. I would hate to ship it and get burned...

I recently purchased a record album for $77.50. After trying to contact them through Ebay(with no responce) I found their email address on my paypal transaction, and wrote them directly. I was told I was rude for contacting them outside of Ebay, and that was unprofessional, and to read the terms of shipment, which I did. It said she had 5 days from the time of cleared payment to ship. OK, so the 5th day I received an ebay statement saying the item was shipped. This was not from the seller, or paypal, but ebay. Their is no tracking number. I know that anyone has the ability to mark an item as shipped(say if they took it to the POffice)but that does not mean it was ever shipped, it just means they are telling ebay that it was shipped, and ebay forwarded it to me. Today is the 11th day after the payment cleared(Pay pal), and still no item, no tracking number, and don't know if it was insured. Since this person does not want to communicate with me, should I worry? Any help?
I just want to say thank-you to everyone about answering questions about the scam of buying a car off Ebay but having Ebay process the transaction and having 3 days to inspect the car and return it if it is not acceptable. I have been emailing someone in GA, who now has moved to Vegas but will ship the car to me free and emailed me 30 pictures of the vehicle which looks very nice but the vehicle is too cheap and being an Ebayer the process did not seem legite and from reading here it is not! Thanks everyone for all your input and saving me thousands of dollars.

I purchased on item Sunday afternoon on eBay. The seller wanted immediate payment which I did through Pay Pal. In checking the order on eBay this morning, I noticed the seller is now no longer listed on eBay. At what point should I be concerned whether the order will ship and what recourse do I have if it doesn't. The item sell price was $350.00.
Hello! I have never sold anything very valuable on eBay, but I'm thinking about doing so. So...DOES eBay have an escrow service? I have looked at several pages worth of posts here, and nobody else seems to know either! Is there any information on the eBay site about this? I don't want to just send my valuables to someone and risk having them claim that I sent them something cheaper. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I pay shipping and handling charges on all shipments and refund the buyer's money if/when anything "bad" happens. So if a package was lost or destroyed, I would refund the buyer's money. Is there any reason why I can't consider myself "self-insured" and not worry about buying insurance for packages?
I'm buying a car through kijiji.com and they want 4800 shipped from New York and I live in Washington. They say they have a $20,000 insurance on eBay and want to do it through eBay (the money process). They said that eBay will hold the money until I recieve the car then I will have 5 days to inspect the car. If the car is 100% working, then they can then pick the money up. If it's not, they said eBay will send me the money back and their shipping company will pick it back up. Will eBay really hold on to the money 5 days after i recieve the car? Thanks!
I view a post on Craigslist By LTC Lisa Scott for a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Originally the car was listed as been in Lakeland, Florida but, she is saying it is in Lakewood, WA. She is selling it for $5400 because she will deploy to Afghanistan. She is saying the SUV is not listed on Ebay but, on your showroom. I gave her my name, address and cell and work phone numbers. At this time she is coordinating with Ebay the payment and shipping arrangements. Is this a SCAM?<
I found a pickup on Craigs list and the seller is LTC Lisa Scott who is stationed in WA and about to be deployed to Afganastan. She says she put the vehicle in Ebays showroom and put it in their possession to ship and sell through their safe pay program. She says she would give ebay our name and shipping address, it would take 3-5 days and we would have 5 days to test the vehicle and accept or reject before she receives the money for the vehicle. It is a 2006 Ford F-150 King Ranch for 5300.00. Can you tell me if this is how ebay works out of state vehicles or is this a scam. Thanks for your help. stavergirl@comcast.net
As a seller will purchasing delivery confirmation satisfy eBay's new mailing standards or must I always buy insurance? Am I allowed to charge the buyer for insurance?
I have an original piece of art work that I was in the process of listing on ebay. However I never completed the listing, I had saved it for later. When I went back to complete the listing it was no longer there.My boyfriend has been researching this item also and has emailed a number of people and sent them pictures of this original piece of art. We have located the pictures on a webs called ArtBrokerage. How it is that they our pictures because they certainly don't have this same piece of original art? Can ANYONE explain how they got these pictures or just what is going on?I believe it has something to do with my Ebay and the RSS message or Button that I see on my ebay store or account?
