why are my hostess items / listings being pulled by ebay dut to expired epiration dates, when all other listings are also expired?
Feb 22, 2013 01:29 PM

i have several listings for hostess snack items that are being pulled for apparently having a past due expiration date. my issue, is that there are several other hostess listings, that also have  a past due listing date. the difference is that they are not being pulled. the company is out of business, and it is not possible to find anything from them that is not past expiration date. both sellers and buyers know this. i dont beleive what is happening to me is correct. i feel it is at the hands of other listers that are targeting me. i need some help with this, please!

It is against eBay policy to list expired food items. It's clearly spelled out in the policy.

Your listings were reported - the others were not.

Apparantly the others weren't reported but yours were.

"All listings for food items are required to show the expiration date in the listing."

11/29 as shown in your current Hostess listings is not compliant. 11/29 of what year?

Expired is expired. Report the other listings.

and how are other sellers targeting you? both you and your competition are breaking policy anyway (obviously, the listings were pulled) so... target them back.

how about let's get just expired stuff off of ebay? not every one is buying twinkies just for display cases.

It is also against FDA regulations.  Why would you want to sell something that might can get someone sick?  I hope you have at least 10 million dollars in liability insurance coverage.  Report the other listings.

I bought some that were expired that sneaked past ebay.  Ebay cancels them as fast as they can.  The listing had no date.  The cakes were AWFUL - rancid fats mainly, and dry and crumbly.  I almost left a negative but the seller refunded.  Do you know what rancid fats do to you?

Oh and one other minor little detail - technically it's illegal to sell ANY food without a license.  Do you have one?

Yes 11/29 what? 2012?

I assume so as otherwise I am sure you would have included the year.

It's actually a violation to 'skirt' policy like that and if your listings don't get pulled?

Well don't be surprised if your buyers report you after receiving the expired items and hit you in the feedback dept as well.   :|

rosie brought up a great point. besides no expiration date (year) you abbr. "exp" which could be past or future. you're obviously trying to sneak around the policy even when you've had items pulled before.

that's just wrong. pull your listings before it happens again. once you're forgiven, but after that ebay may take action. you don't have a long enough selling history to balance out any demerits.
