Is it legal for a seller to directly send an email to a buyer without going through ebay? Who do I contact about seller selling fake stuff?

I bought an item & when I received it...it was a fake copy of Microsoft Office 2010 with a fake product code key. Microsoft will not allow installation to complete because it is fake. I contacted the seller twice & instead of the seller answering through ebay, he contacted me directly. Sorry, but I don't trust this guy. I looked through his feedback & noticed I'm not the only one he sent fake products to. The other bad feedbacks were given to him after I bought the product. If I had known he was selling copies instead of the real deal, I would have saved my $$. I'm now out $60.

If the transaction is not older than 45 days then file a dispute to get a refund.

Anytime you are in a transaction with a member they can get your contact info.

Open a Not as Described case and follow through with it.

Leave appropriate feedback and stars.

Ebay will kick this guy off soon enough.
