I list items with 'Buy It Now" do I have to sell if the bid do not reach my Buy it Now price?
Feb 12, 2013 04:32 PM

Will I have to sell my items if the bids do not reach my "Buy It Now" price?

What if one person bid and the bid is way below my "Buy It Now" price will I have to sell the item to them?

Please tell me how this works.

Thanks

Yes, you do.  A "Buy it Now" is NOT a reserve...all a BIN does is gives bidders a chance to buy the item outright before the bidding begins.  The BIN option disappears with the first bid in all but 4 categories.

The win goes to the highest bidder at the end of the auction.

in nearly all categories, the Buy it Now will go away once a bid is placed.

so the Buy it Now is not a reserve and if you only get 1 bid, the item will sell for whatever you used as the starting bid.

you do have to sell, regardless of whether or not it got as high as the now absent buy it now.

go to Customer Support at the top of the page and search on Buy it Now to get all the pertinent information before you get in trouble.

So, what you need to do is start the auction at the very least you are willing to accept for the item.

That way, you won't be disappointed.

If you don't want to sell your items below the BIN's then you should just be listing with a fixed price.  But you have your auction prices too low and then you have quite a gap between the starting bid and the BIN price.  You should start you auction at the lowest price you want for the item and then make the BIN at least 10% higher.
