on the fixed price listing, it says send to online auction as an option. what happens when you select this option?

It cancels the listing you have active and you forfeit all fees already due for the current listing.

 

It then will create the listing into an auction 7-day format using your fixed listing price as a starting point.  You will then be charged all new fees for this auction.

 

My personal choice of when to consider this option is when I have more than 20 watchers (with more viewers) for one item.  The drawback to this is the watchers are not automatically notified of the change - so they may lose interest.

 

I have done it once or twice, but have not had success with it - so I really ignore it anymore - at least until/if eBay comes out with the watchers being notified.
