what do you do if you accidentally ordered two of the same item?
Nov 20, 2012 04:37 AM

My issue a bit similar to a previous one:   accidentally ordered 2 of the same item.  I immediately sent a note to the seller BEFORE paying for either of them.  Then the next morning I called ebay.  Ebay helped me navigate through to paying for one item and requesting the seller to cancel the second one.  I have not heard from either.  I'm a novice to ebay, but in the response to the other question, i'm seeing that there are automatic things that happen against me, and I don't want that to happen.  Am I being impatient?  the first note to seller was a Sunday, the second was Monday (and the third is today).  Thanks for any help

If the seller will not agree to cancel the transaction then you will need to pay. The seller can open the Unpaid Item dispute 4 full days from the end of the listing. If you don't pay within 4 full days you will receive a strike against your account. That's how it works.

apparently, the Ebay help did not make it clear to you that the seller does not have to respond to you or do anything but wait for your payment.

the next move is yours. it may be best to simply pay for the item and then list it yourself or use as a gift.

after 4 days of non payment, the seller can open the unpaid item complaint.

"Impatient"? About what? You don't have a say in how the seller chooses to handle the non-payment. He can expect payment and go ahead and file UPI if you don't pay.  If you don't want a strike on your account, you would need to pay for the item you won.

If the seller won't let you off the hook, pay for the second item and give it as a gift or re-sell it yourself on Ebay.
