Bidding vs Buy it Now Method

Bidding vs Buy it Now Method

If a seller has the option of bidding or buy it now and I proceed using the bidding method, but someone after me wants to buy it now, which method is the seller obligated to sell his item?

Also, if I place a maximum bid and nobody bids on the item, do I pay the maximum amount or the starting amount?

In most listings, the Buy It Now disappears as soon as the first bid is placed.

There are a few categories where the exception exists:

Buy It Now is available until the current bid reaches or exceed 50% of the Buy It Now price:

Cell Phones & Accessories

Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

Motors Parts & Accessories

Tickets

A Buy It Now also ends the listing at that Buy It Now price.

Any bid placed will be ended and payable at that bid price. Maximum amounts are never called on unless bid against.

If the Buy It Now price is still on the listing even after you've placed a bid, someone else can buy it. It's not a process that the seller has control over. For some categories, the buy It Now price remains even after bidding has started.

For bidding, you pay the auction ending price. If you are the only bidder, it would be the starting price (assuming no Reserve).

When you're a Southerner you don't ask if there are crazy people in your family, you just ask which side they're on.
