Does the seller sometimes need the buyer's email address to send an updated invoice?

Does the seller sometimes need the buyer's email address to send an updated invoice?

I would like an item shipped to Alaska, which was originally outside of the seller's shipping locations. Seller says: no problem, add $20.

Problem is, eBay won't let me pay for the item because my shipping address is outside of the originally posted locations. I sent the request for an exception / updated invoice, but the seller is asking for my email address in order to do so. (Meanwhile, eBay is sending notices to pay the seller before I'm deliquent.)

A copy of my request shows the "Send Invoice" link in the upper RH corner.

This whole process in eBay is NOT user friendly for either party, but I want covered under eBay's Buyer Protection.

Have any other sellers had difficulty with updating an invoice? Bad links or other bugs?

It is pretty hard to change an invoice. Ebay stopped allowing wholesale changes awhile back, to keep scam artists from overcharging customers. Your buyer may be wanting your email address to send a bill for the extra shipping via paypal. If you do that make SURE the original invoice still goes through ebay so your buyer's protection remains intact.

And tell the seller to put you on his "buyer exemption to blocked list" to allow you to pay.

A medium flat rate box (as shown in his shipping) is the same rate to Alaska as anywhere else in the US.

It does not cost $20 extra to ship to Alaska!

Certainly not with flat rate boxes.

eBay Checkout does not allow a seller to add $20 because sellers are not allowed to charge more than the listing states.

The seller would be wanting your email to send you a PayPal Money Request. This would void eBay Buyer Protection coverage because the payment would be outside of eBay.
