Will ebay give me a limit? Or will I be able to list 2000 items my first month without any issues?

Thanks

Hi standish2010,

It is doubtful that eBay will allow you to list 2,000 items your first month.

Limits are set based on sellers' newness and perceived risk, and it doesn't matter if you have an eBay store or not.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

No, a store does not lift the limits.  So you would be paying the monthly fee (approx. $15) for nothing.  With that many items, a store would be a good option in the future, but not yet.

My fellow responders are correct.

You will have selling limits for a minimum of 90 days from your first sale.

At that time if you have 25 positive seller feedbacks with no negatives and have sold (I think 250 or 500) in sales you can ask eBay to increase your limits.

They will still not be in that limit range.

Good luck and forget the store for a while as you learn the rocks and shoals of eBay.

Good luck

The limits are based on what ebay want your account to be. If you sell only a small amount of items and you get a lower rating it will take forever to remove. Since the start of this new terms, I have been limited only because I charge exactly what USPS charges and the buyer didn't want to pay for shipping. Thus since June 2012 my shipping is free, but I am still limited do to the ratings that never change for the few items i have sold. Is this to benefit the seller or just for ebay to show that can monopolize the site to their socialistic class of doing things. It use to be fun selling here, but now its just a scam

Just:

Have you contacted eBay Customer Service and requested higher limits?

They will as about your future plans on eBay (selling different items, listing higher priced items, etc)

They have always been more than helpful from my vantage point.

Good luck to the OP and just.

"Is this to benefit the seller or just for ebay to show that can monopolize the site to their socialistic class of doing things?"

The only real benefits to the seller is that it attracts buyers & it gives you an automatic 5 star rating in S&H charges.  Your DSR in S&H is pretty low.  Offering the free shipping will bring that up, but it will take time.  Once that's up, you should be back to normal.  It's a pain & alot of people have complaints about Ebay, but I continue to believe that I would not be able to do this without Ebay, so I adjust.

Don't know if you know this or already have it set up, but if you offer 1 day handling (& ship within 1 day) & a 14 day return policy, you will get an automatic 5 stars in the S&H time.  Since Ebay's Buyer Protection makes you take back almost everything, you might as well have a return policy.  Then if there is NO communication between you & the buyer, you get an automatic 5 stars in communication.  So there are ways around the DSR's & you just have to adjust.

As far as them monopolizing the site to their way of doing things....it's their ballpark.  Sellers can play ball or take their ball & go home.

New sellers have limits. Typically ebay allows 10 items or $500 a month until they have proven themselves. Some new sellers may have a higher limit if they verify their bank account, add credit cards and other backup payment methods to both their paypal and ebay accounts, then link these accounts together. Ebay may also allow you more if you call them and can answer questions about the selling rules and regulations.

2,000 items a month initially? I doubt it, but you never know until you try.

You might want to try this and look for the answer you seek.

Go to the community tab at top of page and then go to answer tab when you get to answers type question in search bar and see if it has been answered. This helps me a lot when I have a hard time finding something that I need answered.
