I am being penalized for "poor" seller performance but have never been told specifically why.

Store is being downgraded to basic level and fees increased but I have never been told specifically why it is. What I need to do specifically, or anything other than generalities. Calling the help line from my location in China ties me in with an operator in Pakistan or some such place where I am told, Very sorry, I cannot help you, those are the rules. In barely intelligible English. EBay help is completely worthless.

Go to your Seller Dashboard and look there. You will see what is wrong.

Your shipping and handling DSR is 4.7. You have received two neutrals for excessive shipping. Your seller dashboard will provide more details.

Your coy way of posting shipping costs in all your listings obviously will not work out well for you. Very few of your items should legitimately be listed with Freight as the shipping method. Even for small items you state to wait for invoice, and that way you can invoice for whatever shipping cost you want. Well, some buyers see through that, apparently. Keep on listing this way, and your seller performance will keep getting poorer.

Very interesting replies but you have all missed the point. The seller dashboard gives the same generalities but nothing specific.

 

Shipping is from China, the EBay software does not allow for shipping estimates from that area of the world and I have no choice but to list Freight as the shipping method. I ship by FedEx at a 40% discount from normal rates, and even at that people complain that since others ship from China for free, I should also. That makes a lot of sense, shipping a $12 item and paying $29 in shipping, see how long you stay in business that way.

 

There is a little scam going on here in China, when the seller of say a cell phone battery makes a sale, he takes the battery, which is normally a scrap item he fished out of the dumpster, takes it to the post office and gives it to his buddy the shipping clerk. The cost of shipping is placed on a large company's monthly bill so the seller pays nothing for shipping.

Nothing "Coy" about it and that was a remark made without researching first. We do ship freight often, and all shipping is done through FedEx though with a 40% discount we negotiated with the local FedEx company here in China. This is the only method we have to ensure safe arrival, Half of the EMS shipments never arrived and UPS lost 100% of our first few shipments with them. We even offered buyers a refund of the difference if they could ship it cheaper but no one has ever accepted the offer. One even stated to ship the part in an envelope through China post and stated he did not care if the part was damaged or lost just so it shipped. Of course he knew that if he did not receive it, he would get his money back. EBay software does not recognize our location and freight is the only method that does work with the EBay software. If you have a suggestion to change this, I would love to hear it.

If you are shipping via Fed Ex, why not just state that?  Some of the sellers have stated that Fed Ex is not an offered service when listing, so they select UPS and state in the description that it is UPS being used.

 

Also, I believe there is "standard shipping" that can be selected, which is better than "frieght", and therefore a shipping price can indeed be listed.

Tried this, thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately the only shipping methods available are USPS (Not available in China) and UPS (No discount). Also, each item would have to be measured, weighed, and calculated separately, no bulk changes possible. I have almost 2000 listings, each one is a different size and weight.

 

Apparently EBay software writers assumed all people using EBay would ship from their registered residence, sell only one item and it would always be the same size and weight going to the same destination using the same post office in the USA..

Would you be able to select the correct type of shipping used if you were to list on the Hong Kong site http://www.ebay.com.hk/ or perhaps the China site http://www.ebay.cn/ ???
