The ONLY escrow service approved by eBay is Escrow.com

You are likely being scammed.

Interesting results from a google search.

Many posts stating that company is not a scam.

Several posts stating that company is ... sort of ... an escrow company.

The company's original blurb stated it was a "drop off chain" franchise.

So, what is it?

Do people think it is an escrow company, approved by eBay?

(The only eBay  "approved" escrow is escrow.com)

http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/escrow.html

or, is it a "consignment store", where sellers can drop off their items?

or, is it something completely different, and misunderstood?

The Addeco site seems to state they are BOTH a consignment seller and an escrow company.

Even more investigation ...

We have already learned that the company is not shown by eBay as an "approved" escrow service.  But, what about an "eBay consignment seller"?

If they sold on eBay, one would think the would have an eBay ID that contained their "Addeco" name.  An eBay search of sellers found one "Addeco", but that ID has been a Member since: May-12-01 in Germany

So, if they do sell on eBay, it is with a completely different ID.

All I can say, is "Hmmmm"

It appears to be an extremely elaborate scam. At least, until there is some institutional approval and recognition, I will treat it that way.

I was looking at an item on Craigslist that was supposedly located in my town. I asked to see it and the seller told me that she was called out of town to care for her sister's child because her sister was injured in a car accident. So she turned it over to Addeco, then proceeded to give me this crazy story about how all I needed to do was send off my $2800 to this black hole and the thing would magically appear on my doorstep, etc etc.

You will find "satisfied customer" messages on some boards, but not enough to validate the existence to my satisfaction. No Better  Business Bureau references. I think they have taken scamming to a new level, but it is still a scam.

I would love to hear from some of you who have been burned. We need to get those stories out there....
