I bought a phone but ebay removed the item from the list after I paid for the item. Do this mean that the item was a fraud?

More than likely, yes.

CHINA = counterfeit & scam capitol of the world.

Just last week there was a rash of new listings for the Samsung Galaxy S3 for $14.99. All were listed from new sellers from China. Those listings were subsequently removed but now there are hundreds of buyers waiting to receive their plastic spoon, plastic bead, fake silver coin (common scam for China sellers, they ship something so ebay see's a tracking number but the buyer typically ends up with some sort of useless trinket). They will then be forced to file an "item not as described" claim and have to deal with Pay-Pal telling them to send the item back to CHINA (at buyers expense....very expensive!), possibly.

Alot of these buyers will probably miss the 45 day deadline for filing a claim too, which is of course what the China sellers are hoping for.

$14.99 for a brand new $600+ phone yet hundreds of folks seemed to think the deal was actually real, sigh. :|
