Why don't sellers always leave feedback for me, when they expect positive feedback from me as the buyer?

Why don't sellers always leave feedback for me, when they expect positive feedback from me as the buyer?
Feb 22, 2013 01:26 PM

Guess I'm a bit frustrated.  Recently I have left several positive feedbacks yet the sellers didn't leave any feedback for me.  A couple of them have even put in their correspondence or notes with the packing slip that they hope I liked their service and would leave them positive feedback!

Should I contact them and ask them why they didn't leave feedback for me?  It seems childish to do this, yet when they ask and expect it, they should do the same.

Feedback is voluntary. You don't have to leave any. Sellers don't have to, either. This is not frustrating.

You have received 176 feedback as a buyer. You have left 180 feedback to your sellers. So you're missing 4 feedback? I would say that's a fair amount of feedback.

Personally, I like to leave feedback in batches after I've reviewed my seller dashboard.

Yes unfortunately that is just the way it is. And like the previous reply said it is voluntary.

Feedback is voluntary, and all eBay members have 60 days to leave it... just because you don't receive it immediately doesn't mean you won't.

Contacting sellers and asking them to leave feedback is not only tacky, but in many cases, it's a sure way to guarantee you won't receive it.

Remember... sellers can only leave positive feedback, even when a buyer doesn't pay for an item. Consequently, some sellers don't think it's worth their while to leave any at all, since it doesn't do anything to enhance a buyer's overall profile.

Sad, but true:(

I never ask a buyer to leave me feedback-they get a pre-printed card thanking them and to contact with any issues however I never mention feedback.

IMO if the seller is going to ask you for feedback then yes, (unless you left them bad feedback or dinged their stars-yes sellers do know), I feel that they should be leaving it in return.

Yes it's tacky but they shouldn't be asking for it so be tacky back and ask for yours.

Just my opinion of course - good luck.

Thanks everyone!  As I stated, I think it seems childish to be contacting the sellers.

I guess I am amazed that two sellers actually requested positive feedback (if I was pleased) but left nothing.

As pointed out to me, perhaps they leave feedback in a bunch and not one at a time.

I'm ok, and not truly "frustrated"....just couldn't think of a better word at the time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and thanks for the support and information.  :)

Yes, it's a bit childish.   Buyers can only get positive feedback anyway, so all buyers have 100% feedback and the feedback they receive is meaningless.
