Anyone familiar with duty/customs/tax/fees with goods shipped from China to USA if there any?
Nov 25, 2012 08:29 AM

I am doing an order with a Chinese vendor and I don't know if I should expect to have to pay some sort of duty/tax/customs fee when the items arrive to me in the USA, The order would be coming by EMS courier and the dollar amount of the order will be around $350. Does anyone have experience with incoming goods from China and any additional costs that may occur?

Expect to pay duty on goods over $200 total.

Why not break up your items into multiple purchases instead, two or more shipments?

duties can be charged on shipments over $200---i don't know the rate, you could call the customs office or look for a website that may have that info.

You can expect to pay duty if the  total is over $200 and if  you are importing goods in quantity, you may run into quota issues, depending on what the items are.

Thanks for the answers and to Mr Lees Deals, part of the reason for the larger order instead of a smaller one was that there is free shipping for an order of over 10 jerseys. They are also charging us insurance, and credit card fees so we are trying to save on shipping. Everyone is enticed by the inexpensive jersey price but all the exgtra fees and duties are making it uninteresting.

Thank you all again!
