buyer bids then disputes shipping
Nov 21, 2012 08:42 AM

this buyer apparently did this more than once..they bid then dispute the shipping after the sale...i filed a unpaid item dispute..they sent me an email saying... that they can contest my filing resolution case to Ebay to remove the non paying strike as there is evidence with our communication and they will let you learn the ABC's tutorial of selling on EBay. ...this is an experienced buyer that seems to prey on new sellers they told me they just did this to another seller ..they are in Canada , i told them i never shipped to Canada and said the shipping  looked to be one price but the calculator is added to tell you what it really is...after the sale they demanded i change the shipping amount...If they contest what can happen

Interesting.

We had some similar posts over the past few weeks.

Looks like a ploy by some buyers to blackmail their sellers into giving additional discounts.

Yes, file the Unpaid Item Report.  Don't forget to escalate the Case 4 full days after filing it.  The nonpayer will be unable to leave feedback.

eBay may forgive the FIRST Unpaid Item Case every year, but they usually do not forgive any further UPIs.  Since your buyer already claimed they were successful in getting one case forgiven, they will NOT be forgiven for your Case.

Again, File the UPI!  Escalate it in 4 days from filing!

More info:

Since you do not ship to Canada, you have to assure Canadians (and other folks outside the USA are blocked from bidding)

Remember that merely stating that you ship only to the USA is insufficient to stop non-USA bidders from bidding.

• To learn how to block unwanted bidders from your auctions, see

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/manage_bidders_ov.html

• To learn how to block certain classes of bidders (such as bidders whose primary location is in a country to which you do not ship, or or bidders with excessive Unpaid Item strikes, or bidders who do not have a PayPal account), see

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/buyer-requirements.html

Note: If you block a bidder, AND select the "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me" option, the blocked bidder will not see the "Contact Seller" link on your listings.

• To block PayPal payments from bidders who do not meet your specifications, see

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_profile-pref

WHEW ... lots of typing, and lots of stuff for you to read.

Do you intend on reading it?

If you opened an UID you do not "escalate the Case 4 full days after filing it" you must CLOSE it.

You are correct.  I used the wrong terminology.

"Escalate" is the process used on PayPal to bring a "Dispute" to a "Claim" that will be reviewed by PayPal employees.

"Close" is the process used on eBay, in which a seller can indicate whether the item was paid or not.
