why am i getting so many non paying auction winners. i give them 7 to 10 days so pay then i open a case against them

why am i getting so many non paying bidders?  i have had several cases opened up over the past 2 months and only 2 have paid after i opened the case.  i give the non paying bidder 7 to 10 days to pay then i open a case and ebay gives them at least 5 to 10 additional days.  why do people not pay when they win an auction?

Sellers can open an Unpaid Item Dispute (UPI) 4 full days after listing end, and close it 4 full days later if no payment has been made.

Closing the dispute issues a strike to the buyer, refunds seller's Final Value Fees, and allows the seller to freely relist the item.

Read here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-items.html

Set your Buyer Requirements:

My Account - Site Preferences - Selling Preferences - Buyer Requirements.

Click on "show" and select from the choices that you will see there.

Block buyers who:

- Don't have a PayPal account

- Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)

- Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to

- Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)

- Have a feedback score of -1 or lower

- Are currently winning or have bought 5 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 5 or lower

And...Ebay NEVER closes the UPI, YOU have to do that to get your fees refunded and give the deadbeat buyer a strike. You can also set up the UPI assistant to open and close your cases if you wish, but it is still your decision.

Is this answer useful?

"why do people not pay when they win an auction?"

I have no idea but it was so bad this summer that I actually stopped selling for awhile-just wasn't worth my time and effort-and I got a lecture about the # of UPI cases I was opening as well.  :|

As said you should have your preferences set as tight as possible-it will help some anyhow.

And this block:  "Are currently winning or have bought 5 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 5 or lower" ?

You can change the # of items and you don't have to apply a certain feedback score-you can have it set for all scores if you want.

Not a single one of my non-payors was a newbie or low feedback score-a couple had very high scores actually, good luck.

You cannot block FB scores higher than -1.

My apologies apparantly I didn't say it right-I was only referring to this block:  "Are currently winning or have bought 5 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 5 or lower"; not the -1 feedback score one.
