Have them return it and refund when you get it back. If it was damaged, you should refund their return postage too but, you don't have to. You don't want a complaint filed. You will lose anyway and it goes on your record.

Did you insure it?

How did you package it?

Did you use USPS, or another carrier?

Did they describe specific damage? Is it visible, or does it just not work?

If they file an item not as described case with eBay they will win, no doubt about it. Saying no returns doesn't mean much on eBay, ebay buyer protection overrides anything you say and that policy states they have 45 days to file for a refund if the item is not as described. If the item arrives damaged then it definitely is not as described. Just as cold and simple as that.

If they file then eBay will instruct them to return the item at their expense and will instruct you that after you receive the item and inspect it you are to refund them every cent they paid you including original shipping charges.

Therefor it is in your best interests to head off a claim through ebay buy offering them the same deal before they file.

If they balk at paying for return shipping it is a good idea to prevent negative feedback and low dsr ratings by refunding that as well.

Wish my fingers would pay closer attention to what I spell correctly.

It is YOUR responsibility to get the item to the buyer in the condition in which it was purchased.

And yes, it very well could have been damaged during shipping.

If YOU didn't buy insurance (it protects YOU not the buyer) then you are out the cost not your buyer.

You can ask for photos of the damage...............And if beyond repair and useless, then you would refund item PLUS original shipping...........

If it can be fixed and you want it back, then they can return it (they pay return shipping) and once you receive it back, refund ........

BUT your return policy means nothing on EBAY............ALL buyers are covered by EBAY'S Buyers Protection for 45 days...........

You do NOT want them to file a dispute..........Most win their cases........Then you have a "black mark" on your selling record.

It does not matter what condition the item was in when you packaged it - it only matters the condition it is in when the buyer receives it.

Ask the buyer for photos of the damage or ask for a return (in which case you should reimburse him for return postage as the error is yours) and then refund.

If YOU purchased an item and it arrived broken, wouldn't YOU expect the seller to refund?

BTW, there doesn't have to be damage to the carton for the contents to be damaged. After you calm down and handle this problem, come back and we can help you learn to package in a way that will get your items safely to the buyer.
