Why doesn't the seller have to pay return shipping when they have shipped an item that is not as described?

Why doesn't the seller have to pay return shipping when they have shipped an item that is not as described?

I bought a purse advertised as 14"x8".  When it arrived, it was only 8"x8".  Contacted the seller and she said she measured the middle of

the purse and it was 101/2"....then why did she list it as 14"?  I told her I wanted to return the purse as it is way too small and would like a

refund, plus my return shipping.  She said she'd refund my price and

original shipping only.  Why should I be out money for the return shipping when I didn't make the mistake?  There is a big difference

between 8" wide and 14" wide and I shouldn't have to be the one who pays.

Those are ebay's rules. Often a seller will pay the return when their at fault to avoid poor feedback but, they don't have to.

Because ebay is not an approval service.

Know these 4 things:
1) Buyer Protection - 45 days to file a claim
2) Auctions are binding contracts
3) Click on Customer Support to find all answers
4) Problems are resolved in the Resolution Center

A good seller will reimburse for return shipping when the error is theirs, but eBay will not enforce it.

You can express your displeasure when you leave appropriate feedback and DSRs.
