New to selling. How does seller get money to pay for shipping?
Jan 18, 2013 08:58 PM

An item sold for $10. Listed shipping price is $5. As the seller, will I receive $15 so I can ship the item to the buyer for $5 and make $10 from item? Does the buyer pay me toe $15? Or does the buyer pay $15 to E-Bay, who takes their share from fees, and E-bay pays me the rest--like $13 or so?

Since it appears that you have decided to jump into selling without having any knowledge of how it works, here is some reading for you:

http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/howtosell/sellingbasics.html

Read it twice if you have to.

BTW, the seller will pay you the entire amount...price plus shipping.

Whatever $ you have left over after you ship to the buyer is your profit.

Ebay will charge you listing fees and final value fees. They will send you a monthly invoice. Your fees will be paid from whatever account you have already specified. (Paypal, credit card, or bank account)

There will be an answer, Let It Be.

Well...

The buyer will pay you the $15.00.

It will go into your PayPal account.

PayPal will instantly take their 2.9% + .30 transaction fees.

You print the label using ebay shipping, and PayPal will let you have enough for that.

ebay will debit your account for the seller fees, and bill you once a month.

Does this make any sense.?

Sorry, but can't find this item you say you sold.  It does look as though you are putting hidden reserve prices on your listings, however.  You do realize you will have to pay for those whether or not your items sell, right?  Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but if it were me, I'd rather use that feature only if I were SURE my items would sell at a profit, meaning after all the fees are taken out.  And even then I wouldn't use a hidden reserve, since buyers don't like that.
