What do you do if you ship a package and the post office damages it? The item was not damaged when I sent it.

I sent a item in a mailer and when it shipped it was not damaged when the buyer recieved the item it was damaged. When they opened the package it was damaged because it got stuck in the mailers glue. I have no idea how it would have got in the seal because it was at the bottom of the envelope when I sent it and it was sealed. So, this is impossible unless the post office opened it. Which they are not going to admit to. I just don't know what to do and I put no returns on the item.

Did you purchase insurance?

You seem quite confident the item was damaged. Did buyer send you a photo?

Seller is required to get the item to the buyer as it was described. I'm sure you did not describe a damaged item.

No returns is meaningless. Buyers are protected for 45 days from date of purchase.

I would offer a full refund.

Probably wouldn't require a return if item is damaged and couldn't be relisted.

If you did not purchase insurance, you will need to refund the buyer.

You may have posted No Returns, but since eBay gives buyers eBay Buyer Protection for 45 days, it does mean you will be refunding.

Refunding and returns have different meanings.

But, either have the buyer send a picture of the damage or

have them mail it back to you before you refund the original purchase price + the original shipping cost.

You can go to PayPal and select "send money" for the refund when it is time to do so.

Things shift around in any sort of packaging so by saying it was in the bottom when you packaged it, probably doesn't hold water..

Have you asked the buyer for pictures showing the damage? That would be a great help to see what happened....However, not everyone has a digital camera nor know how to use one or how to send pics thru ebays new pic sending option...

Good luck and you will propbably need to refund all the money, that buyer paid. I hope it wasn't alot of $..

Negative feedbacks come whenever, however, why ever, regardless of no matter what......They sting so all you can do is whatever the best you can do, will be...Sorry that this happened to you..

Happy New Year!
