I refunded a buyer because his item was damaged before I shipped it to him but he wants it anyway how do I cancel?

A buyer purchased an item with a 14 day return policy, the item was damaged before I could send it so I immediately refunded his money back and gave him an explaination of why i refunded his money back to him.

I recieved an email from him telling me (english might not be his native language) basicaly that he didnt want the money and that he wants the item.

How can I end this transaction with a happy ending?  I gave him back his payment in full, the item has been destroyed. How do I cancel this transaction?

I think he might be trying to scam me so I need some help on what to do....    Thank You

You refunded the buyer in  full, so they have been "made whole".

Unfortunately, some sellers say the item was destroyed or damaged, when they merely did not get enough money for the item.  Your buyer may be aware of that.

You cannot prevent them from leaving feedback &/or DSRs

There is no way to cancel, without the buyer's permission, and it appears the buyer will not give you that permission.

It doesn't sound like there is going to be a happy ending.

You made a decision not to complete your transaction and you did so without first discussing it with the buyer.

You have opened yourself up for a non performing sellers report and a NEG FB.

You should NOT be making descisions for your buyers...and that is what you did.

This was not a scam this was poor customer service and bad/non existant communication on your part.

You also don't cancel the transaction.....they buyer would need to agree to that and he wants the item.

Did you send him a picture of the item showing it was been destroyed?  Maybe then he will believe you. Or maybe he originally wanted the item for a part off of it and he doesn't care about the case being broken.
