inaccurate shipping estimates

Most often, even though I overestimate dimensions and weight of an item, eBay estimates are low for shipping. Lately I've been going to USPS in person with the packaged item to get accurate estimates prior to shipping the item. The last item I shipped came in at $16.00 when I got the pre-shipping estimate.
