Can Sellers charge a restocking fee for returns or is this against Ebay policy?

I have noticed that some Sellers are including in their listings a restocking fee for returned items.....however it is not recorded in their main Return Policy with Ebay.

I have customers who pay for their orders and request a shipping date outside of my handling time of "One business day".

I sell live bare root aquatic plants seasonally.  I have always shipped promptly because of the fragile nature of my product.  Occasionally I have a customer who pays for their order and requests that I ship at a later date if they will not be home for delivery of the plants.  Ebay has the "One day handling" rule that locks me into their (ebay's) plans on when to ship the order.  This is a case once again of "one size or rule that doesn't fit all."  This is my customer and yet I know ebay will... more…

Offering a "money back" discount for multiple purchase combined on onto one invoice

I'm trying to verify I would not be in violation of any eBay policy to offer a 10% refund to my customers who make multiple purchases and allow me to combine them into one invoice & transaction.  The money back would be issued as a refund to their PayPal account after the transaction has been completed.  The items I would offer it on are items on which I offer free shipping.    Encouraging them to make multiple purchases and combine them is a win-win for them & me.  I save some on my... more…

returns - how can sellers list "returns accepted" then add in the hidden details "only if not as described, buyers remorse not acceptable"??

I see it time and time again and it is a trick because "not as described" is always returnable - why are they allowed to have this policy when they should really list as "returns not accepted"??? it gives buyers a false sense of confidence when buying and if a buyer does not view the details of the seller's return policy they may find it's difficult to return the item or find out, they should have read "the details" more closely because the seller had a return policy with a 25% re-stocking fee... more…

How do I handle a buyer who pays so late that I've relisted the item already?

I listed an item, and a buyer bid on it and won.  They never paid.  Instead of reporting the buyer under resolution center, I decided to just forgive it and relist the item. Then the original buyer made a payment on the original item which is already up for another auction. What do I do? more…

How long do you wait to receive payment before you figure the buyer isn't sending it. I have emailed the buyer twice with no response.

New to ebay so don't really know what most sellers do.  Open for suggestions.

when's best time to make a price revision to a fixed price listing? while it's still active? or wait until you relist it?

I think you can always revise the price on any active fixed price lising via the 'revise listing' tool, but when is the best time to revise a price for buyers to notice it? I was thinking maybe a price revision in the middle of an active listing may not be as noticeable as a new price when item is relisted the next time?   Is there any policy rule or guidance I'm missing here? or is it just a matter of personal choice what you guess works best? more…

I have a customer that wants to send me a money order by mail because she doesn't have Paypal account. Is this allowed?

I am a fairly new seller and I have a customer that wants to send me a money order by mail because she doesn't have a Paypal account.  The item is a pair of shoes.  From the reading I've done in the policies, I think this is against the rules.  Just would like to know for sure so I don't disappoint.  Thanks! more…

What does a seller do when eBay refunds the buyer before the purchased item is returned? I'm out $100 and the items.

Buyer paid 99.95 for items (group). I shipped immediately. 15 days later buyer files a "doesn't match description" complaint and requests a refund.   I was notified by eBay with the header: case open: work it out.  Good words for positive vibes.  eBay states everywhere that it encourages communication between buyer & seller to solve issues.  So I proceeded to use the dialogue box to ask the buyer how my item differed from the description.  It didn't. He/she was disappointed because the item... more…

when a seller gets no payment he has to go in circles for weeks even though it is apparent the buyer is non responsive, has no feedback.

buyer has no feedback, he sent 1 email with a question, unresponsive, no payment yet we have to wait weeks I tried a cancel the sale. Seems that takes time and another week.  meanwhile I can't list the item and sit and wait.  I have to limit now to 10 feedbacks  to accept a bid I guess.  Very unfair to sellers rules and fees applied yet we have little say in how things work. more…

What do I do about these buyers who want to continually return items?

Hello, What kind of recourse do sellers have against buyers who want to return items that were clearly listed as used and now want a refund because there was a loose thread or ink stains??? Was it not clear enough when it was listed used, do we have to list every single detail??? I am getting tired of not having any choice in issuing the refunds or having my reputation challenged by having them open cases against me. I don't see any seller protection against these actions. If my policy clearly... more…

i sold a men's jacket.  the size was shown in the neck tag.  i also did all of the measurements and included them in the listing discription.  someone bought the jacket and when they received it, they said it was not a size XL and it must be a ladies jacket. i told them that it was a man's because the snaps snapped the way a man's jacket would snap.  additionally, i told them that all of the measurements were in the discription.  then they emailed back and said that it must be mislabeled and... more…
